Studying at Lucknow University can feel tiring in a way that is hard to explain. The institution has a big name and a long history, and people often talk about its reputation, beautiful architecture, and future plans. But students, especially girls, often face problems that are not discussed openly. Behind the image of a respected university, there are many things students have to quietly deal with every day.
Â
Two Hostels, Two Worlds.
One of the biggest problems is the difference between the boys’ hostel and the girls’ hostel. Even though both are located on the same campus, the conditions of living are not the same. The boys’ hostel is usually better maintained, while the girls’ hostel often feels overcrowded and poorly managed. This makes many studentsl feel like their comfort does not matter as much as much as their male counterparts. Such differences are unfair and unjust, especially since no measures are taken to actively make the girls’ hostels be managed better. This just goes to shows that some students are given more priority than others by a university which claims to treat all students equally.Â
RTI as a Last Resort. Â
Many students also face problems in academics. Some have received back papers or marks that were not properly explained. There is often no clear communication, and students are left confused and stressed. For them, getting answers feels like a struggle instead of a basic right. This creates frustration, especially when they are trying hard to understand what went wrong.
One story that showcases this issue is about a girl from a middle-class family who had to file RTI applications just to understand where her marks had been cut. That is not easy for any student, especially when money is already limited. She kept trying because she wanted answers, but to no avail. This shows how difficult it becomes when a student has to fight again and again for information that should be given easily.
The Database Problem Nobody Wants to Address.
It is a well know fact that the university’s database system is not reliable. Students often face missing records, errors, or delays when they check their academic details. For some people this may look like a small issue, but for students waiting for marks, scholarships, or other records, it becomes a serious problem. Facing such issues while just trying to understand what they’re supposed to do, makes tge stydents stress. And a university should make student life easier, not more stressful.Â
The Classroom That Lets Everyone Down.Â
Classrooms also need improvement. Many of them are old, and the infrastructure does not work properly. Projectors are faulty, seats are uncomfortable, and the learning environment is not always good and cohesive for student development. Proffesors may be doing their best, but they too work in a system that has many limitations. The real problem is not only with people who have authority, but with the structure of the administration itself.Â
What Does Lucknow University Owe Its Students?
This article is not meant to degrade the University of Lucknow, nor am I trying to say that it has no value. It has a talented group of students and professors, ascwell as a strong identity. But a university should do more than just carry a big name. It should give equal treatment, fair rules, proper facilities, and honest answers to its students. At present, many students still feel like they have to fight for basic things that should already be available to them. And I believe it is high time LU brought about a change that helps with the issues discussed above.
