Is this the right discussion?

On our campus, we all have our little groups if not that than a person with whom we spend most of our time. From entering the campus till the evening. We chit chat about lots of things that include thousands of topics and random gossip. Especially in winter we all sit in PMP to enjoy the sunlight and spill the tea. But I think we just talk randomly,I do agree with all academic pressure, with friends, we just want to chill.
As a student, we also have responsibilities regarding our country. Why don’t we discuss our national, international or local issues? Currently lots of things are going on. But looking around I just found people scrolling through their phone, discussing some silly memes. Why don’t we question, discuss and at least try to understand those things?

Not everyone has an understanding of everything. Through questions we learn and understand. As we all have our unique perspective of the world and matters .If your views are different than share and let people handle your views. Human beings’ critical thinking is the factor that differentiates us from other species present on earth.Making humans as the best resource out of all resources. For any country, generation of young is highly crucial for development.Luckily,we have the highest numbers of youngsters still we are unable to use it effectively. Our country has so much potential, but we are still not able to properly harness it. Why is the equation, young people are directly proportional to better development not working in this country?
One of the reasons can be our inability to ask the right question. We are busy in our little bubbles. Chasing instantaneous happiness. Busy seizing our day but unsure of the future. In this digital era, AI, doomscrolling and cheap dopamine we are losing our ability to think. With one click we have every information. This comfort makes us so lazy that we don’t even want to think. I do agree AI is our future, that does not justify our dependency and willingness to be dumb. For example- with my group we talk about our family issues, gossip about someone’s love life, professor, complain about mishap and how unproductive we are and that’s all. If any day we talk about something serious then the next moment we start discussing something else. In seconds we change topics, clearly showing how short our attention span is and how easily we get distracted.
We never properly sit to debate on any issue. Even putting all our ideas on the table.
Unfortunately, on our campus the real topics and their discussion is really missing.Being a citizen of a democratic country and a student it feels like we have forgotten questioning. We all are going with the flow, accepting everything or anything. Why this ignorance towards some crucial topics?
We are the future of this country, we should be aware about its issues and find our ways to resolve it. If nothing else, these conversations will make people aware about what is going on in their surroundings. Our students are more updated on new features of apps than the election in their own country. We need some meaningful conversations instead of gossip. In general, I heard students discussing their love life, and at that moment Miranda’s words from SATC crossed my mind that how come four intelligent women sitting together and all they talk about is their boyfriends.
In the present overuse of Al is already a concern, also doomscrolling together they are making us mindless. Every app that was to simplify our life ends up making it more complicated. We all are well aware of the fact that everything starts from an idea, even for that idea, you should know how to think. Nowadays, the missing “why” in our conversation is replaced by shorts/reels. Even though we sit together still we live in our own different world.
